Niltar Trade Ltd and Nilstar®
Niltar Trade Ltd is the corporate structure behind Nilstar®, the group's textile brand. The two names are often seen together, but they are not the same thing: Niltar Trade Ltd is the company; Nilstar® is the brand it has built in textiles. This page tells the story of how the company arrived at that brand, and where its business stands today.
Three Generations of Textile Heritage
Nilstar®'s heritage is rooted in Bursa, Türkiye's textile capital, and traces three generations of family textile experience — from jacquard weaving and upholstery fabrics through to today's hospitality textile studio, trading since 1987. The photographs below are genuine historical material from that archive, shown in the order the business grew.
The beginning of our textile heritage
The story begins on the textile floor, not behind a desk — rooted in Bursa, the textile capital of Türkiye. This photograph shows the first generation developing deep, hands-on expertise in jacquard weaving and upholstery fabrics, the craft that still underpins Nilstar® today.
Building the business, İzmir
An early storefront in İzmir, marked by a congratulatory opening wreath — a customary gesture for a store opening in Türkiye. The signage identifies a döşemelik kumaş (upholstery fabric) manufacturing, wholesale and retail business, part of the same family textile trade that Nilstar® continues today.
1992 — where it all began
Our founder, at the desk where it all began. By 1992, the family's textile experience had expanded into a wider range of woven fabrics and a dedicated office — the moment this photograph, the one image in the archive with a confirmed date, captures.
A trading network takes shape
As the business grew, so did its network of partners and colleagues. This photograph from a grand opening ceremony in İzmir shows the wider group of people behind the company's expanding textile trade, as expertise broadened into hospitality textiles.
The creation of Nilstar®
The third generation continues the family textile heritage through Nilstar®, trading since 1987 and now a contract interior and hospitality textile studio creating bespoke jacquard and fire-retardant fabrics for hotels, restaurants and commercial interiors — with production heritage in Bursa and manufacturing today in Istanbul, Türkiye.
